Know for its strength, the diamond is historically believed to enhance relationships, increase inner strength and bring balance, clarity and abundance to the wearer. The trend of a diamond as an engagement ring began in 1477 when the Archduke Maximilian of Austria gave a diamond ring to Mary of Burgundy as a promise for their future marriage.
